Read Jackie’s Story
Laughter is the very best medicine.
Why I chose to move to Park Place Retirement
Jackie Naylor moved to Park Place Retirement after the passing of her husband, when her son encouraged her to consider a place where she could receive the care and support she needed. She quickly recognized that Park Place could provide both comfort and assistance in this new chapter of life.
Settling in and feeling supported
Jackie’s transition was positive. From the beginning, she felt supported by residents and team members, helping her feel comfortable and settled.
“
It brings peace of mind knowing support is always there.

My favourite part of life here
What Jackie appreciates most is the people. From residents to team members, she feels cared for each day. She fondly remembers meeting Tom, whose kindness left a lasting impression.
What brings me joy each day
Jackie enjoys live music and outdoor gatherings when the community comes together. She also finds happiness in quieter moments—knitting in her room, watching television, and enjoying favourite treats like root beer and Maltesers.
Advice for someone considering retirement living
Jackie’s experience reflects that having daily support, companionship, and care makes life easier and more comfortable in retirement living.
The meaningful work and connections that shaped my life
Born in Holland, Jackie grew up in a large family with seven sisters and three brothers before moving to Canada and settling in Park Hill. She worked as a hairdresser and proudly owned her own salon, Jackie’s Hair Fashion, in Ingersoll. With training from hairdressing school and support from her brother-in-law, she built a business that reflected her independence and creativity.
What inspires me now
Family inspires Jackie most. She and her husband shared one son, Rodney, who visits often, brings her Maltesers, jokes with her, and keeps her laughing. She believes laughter is the very best medicine.
A happier outlook and full life
With laundry taken care of and support always available, Jackie feels more at ease. Surrounded by care and connection, she experiences peace of mind and renewed comfort in this stage of life.
